Devotional Title:

“You Are An Overcomer Through Christ Jesus”

Scripture Text:

1 John 5:4-5 – For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.  Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Observation:

In the above scripture text, the Apostle John makes it very clear that when you put your trust in Jesus, you will have victory in your life and overcome the things that are attached to the world such as fear, doubt, sickness, mental anguish, and the like. The Bible says in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Even though it is satan’s goal to destroy mankind, our focus should always be on the one who overcame both the world and the devil. He has, likewise, given us victory over the adversary. Putting your trust in Jesus and not in your circumstances will alter the course of your life and place you in a position to experience this abundant life. However, the question remains: Are you willing to put your trust in Him? Are you willing to believe that Jesus is the Son of God?

Application:

Hebrews 11:6 states, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Begin to seek the Lord daily and put your trust in Him even in the midst of obstacles, disappointments, and delayed promises. It is your faith that will begin to open up the doors to your deliverance, healing, and breakthrough. Therefore, put your faith in Jesus no matter how things may appear. Remember, you are an overcomer through Christ Jesus.

Prayer:

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling,
And to present you faultless
Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
To God our Savior,
Who alone is wise,
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power,
Both now and forever, Amen.”
